I am an Adobe fan, but I upgrade only on even years primarily because of minimal yearly changes. Elements Ver 8 is well worth the jump. Each version gets closer to features usually found on the professional Photoshop CS.
I highly recommend Elements version 8 whether as your first Elements venture or annual upgrade.

Have used Photoshop Elements 6 and 7 over the past several years however the new Photoshop Elements 8 is a vast improvement. I find it smoother and easier to use especially because of the upgraded edit resources. The online help and tutorials are very good. Also subscribed to Photoshop Elements magazine which also provides so much more really valuable information and techniques

I bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 primarily for digital scrapbooking & I so far I have spent way more time trying to figure out how the program works, that actually using it. I have never owned a Photoshop before, and to be honest, I wish I hadn’t spent the money on this program. I’ve heard that it can do amazing things, but all I’ve created so far is a ton of frustration.
