What kind of books did your parents have when you were a child?
What kind of books did your parents have in your house as you were growing up?
Not books for you, but books for them…
See, as i was growing up my parents had books on the theory of alien civilizations & extraterrestrial research, amongst other things such as psychology books & books on unexplained phenomenons.
Today I am very interested in these things, especially the alien stuff.
As my mum was growing up her mum had a lot of books about the workings of the brain & a lot of encyclopedias & today she is very stuff like that.
From this i saw a pattern.

Do your current interests stem from the books you grew up around as a child?
bible, law and medical books.
i honestly dont really remember.
I know we had a large dictionary, medical books, encyclopedias, and probably several religious books. Some home do it yourself type books, an electronics book, a health book. My mom didnt read anything for pleasure. My dad didnt either that i was aware of. As i got older he did, he read lots of Christian books, that big christian series left behind, tom clancy books. I dont read anything that they read. I grew up reading Hardy boys and Fantasy novels which i still read today So they did not influence me at all, even tho my dad tried to get me to read christian books, i had no interest in them at all, they were usually horrible, and gave me nightmares.
When i was growing up my mom has some really outdated encyclopedia’s they had red covers
she had some v.c andrews books
she had some sick romance books i thought were gross
she had a few horror and monster books
she wasn’t really much of a reader which is funny because i am
I believe we are influenced by what we are exposed to. It’s the nature vs. nurture thing everyone talks about. My parents, mostly my mother, read novels, newspapers, and Life and Time magazines. I read two newspapers a day, don’t have time for magazines (except in the doctor’s office), and read novels two at a time.
